Does my new puppy not like me or is he just shy?

Me and my fiance just adopted our new 9 week old husky mix puppy today. We love him to death already. It just doesn't seem like the feeling is mutual. The first night we put him outside in his doggy house inside of his pen. The neighbors told us he got out so ran to grab him before he could get away but he growled and ran away in the woods (during the middle of the night might I add). To make a SUPER LONG story short he FINALLY came back an was sitting on our porch so we decided to let him live in the house. We pet him and snuggle him but he just doesn't seem like he likes us too much (we get the occasional lick here and there). All he does is eat, potty, and he sleeps ALL THE TIME in his little doggy bed and snuggles the little stuffed pound puppy we gave him. We don't know if he's just lonely (he was staying with his 2 bros & sis before we got him), scared because of the new surroundings, or just doesn't like us. He likes to eat though lol. But is this normal and will he open up to us soon or will he always be this way?
