Renault Espace Airbag Warning Light Problem?

I have an espace 2K plate automatic. Everytime I start the engine the airbag service light comes on for a few seconds, bleeps and then disappears. I've checked various forums that state the problem is the wires under the front seats but this has been looked at and it's not that. Do I need to have the codes reset? Any POLITE suggestions welcomed. Thanks in anticipation!
